About IPMA, the International Project Management Association

Founded in 1965 and registered in Switzerland, the International Project Management Association (IPMA) is the world's first project management professional organization. IPMA is an international federation of more than 50 national PM societies in Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe and the Americas. Most people don't know that IPMA's original name was INTERNET. IPMA's 4-L-C, Four-level Certification program, uniquely includes assessment of PM competence by professional assessors. Certifications range from entry level PM to advanced, certifications of PM competence and performance in actual roles ranging from project manager to senior program manager. The IPMA World Congress is one of each year's largest and most important gatherings of project management authorities and leaders each year. And, the Awards Gala Dinner is always one of the most exciting and entertaining events of the Congress. The 2011 IPMA World Congress will be held in Brisbane, Australia, October 9-12. About IPMA's Research Management Board

IPMA Research Management Board is focused on moving the practice of Program and Project Management forward, through three levels of research activities, public events, published materials, and key alliances:

1st level: International Academic Network (IAN)

International Academic Network - to identify and create the international network of project management research organizations – increase visibility and promote international collaboration;

2nd level: IPMA R&D Products:

  • IPMA Research Awards – to promote and award young and senior researchers,
  • Academic and Expert Events – increase visibility, support international collaboration and networking;
  • Research Standards – to support research work;
  • Support to international PM research and academic groups – e-collaboration support;
  • IPMA Research Newsletter – to inform and promote IPMA research management board activities

3rd level: International Strategic Alliances:

Collaboration with other professional networks and research associations (ICEC, Project Management Institute, etc.).
